கல்லூரி மாணவியான ஸ்ரீ (சாயிஷா) உடல் உறுப்புகளை திருடும் கும்பல்களால் கடத்தப்படுகிறார். ஒரு மருத்துவமனைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்லப்படும் அவர் அங்கிருக்கும் ஊழியர்களால் திட்டமிட்டு கோமா நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்படுகிறார். அங்கே அவரது ஆன்மா அல்லது மனம் அவருக்கு அருகில் இருக்கும் ஒரு டெடி பியர் பொம்மைக்குள் சென்று விடுகிறது.

இன்னொரு பக்கம், ஓசிடி எனப்படும் ஒரு குறைப்பாட்டுடன் அவதிப்படும் சிவா (ஆர்யா). அவருக்கு எப்போதும் எதையாவது யோசித்துக் கொண்டே இருக்க வேண்டும். அவரால் எதையுமே மறக்க முடியாது. அதற்காக பார்க்கும் அனைத்தையும் கற்றுக் கொள்கிறார். துப்பாக்கிச் சுடுதல், கராத்தே, குங்ஃபூ அவர் கற்காத விஷயங்களே இல்லை. ஒருநாள் ரயிலில் ஒரு பெண்ணிடம் அத்துமீறும் ரவுடி கும்பலிடமிருந்து அப்பெண்ணை ஆர்யா காப்பாற்றுகிறார். இதை கவனிக்கும் டெடி ஆர்யாதான் தன் பிரச்சினையை தீர்க்க சரியான ஆள் என்று அவரை பின் தொடர்ந்து சென்று அவரிடம் தனது பிரச்சினையை பற்றி சொல்கிறது. ஆர்யாவால் டெடிக்கு உதவ முடிந்ததா? ஸ்ரீயின் ஆன்மாவால் மீண்டும் தன் உடலுடன் சேர முடிந்ததா என்பதே ‘டெடி’ படத்தின் கதை.

‘நாய்கள் ஜாக்கிரதை’,‘மிருதன்’, ‘டிக் டிக் டிக்’ என்று தொடர்ந்து வித்தியாசமான முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டு வரும் சக்தி சௌந்தர்ராஜனின் மற்றுமொரு முயற்சி. படத்தின் முதல் பார்வை வெளியான போது இது ஹாலிவுட்டில் வெளியான ‘டெட்’ படத்தின் தழுவல் என்ற ஒரு பேச்சு எழுந்தாலும், அந்த படத்துக்கும் இதற்கும் எந்த தொடர்பும் இல்லை. தமிழுக்கு பரிச்சயமில்லாத ஒரு கதைக் களத்தை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு அதை தன்னால் முடிந்த அளவு சுவாரஸ்யமாக திரையில் காட்ட முயன்றிருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர் சக்தி சௌந்தர்ராஜன். படம் தொடங்கிய ஓரிரு நிமிடங்களிலேயே இதுதான் கதை என்று பார்ப்பவர்களுக்கு புரிந்து விடுகிறது. டெடி ஆர்யாவை சந்திக்கும் காட்சிவரை விறுவிறுப்புடன் சென்ற திரைக்கதை அதன் பிறகு ப்ரேக் அடித்து படுத்து விடுகிறது. காட்சிகளில் எந்தவித ஒட்டுதலும் இல்லை. டெடிக்காக ஹீரோ ஆர்யா படும் அவஸ்தைகள் பார்க்கும் நமக்குள் எந்தவித தாக்கத்தையும் ஏற்படுத்தாததால் க்ளைமாக்ஸ் வரைக்குமே படத்துடன் ஒன்றமுடியவில்லை.

டெடி பொம்மைக்கு உயிர் வந்தது ஆர்யா, அவரது நண்பர் சதீஷ் உள்ளிட்ட ஒருசிலருக்கு மட்டுமே தெரியும் நிலையில், சாதாரணமாக பீச், பார்க், ஹோட்டல் என கூட்டிச் செல்வதும், அதை மக்கள் ஒரு பொருட்டாகவே கண்டுகொள்ளாமல் இருப்பது மிகப்பெரிய உறுத்தல். நினைத்த உடன் அவ்வளவு பாதுகாப்பு அம்சங்கள் கொண்ட மருத்துவமனையில் ஹீரோ தனியாளாக நுழைந்து எதிரிகளை அடிப்பது கூட பரவாயில்லை. தனியாளாக அஜர்பைஜான் நாட்டுக்கும் சென்று அங்கிருக்கும் ரவுடிக் கும்பலை அடித்து துவம்சம் செய்வதெல்லாம் அப்பட்டமான லாஜிக் மீறல்.

உறுப்புகளை திருடி விற்கும் ஒரு மருத்துவமனையில் இருக்கும் செக்யூரிட்டி முதல் ரிசெப்ஷன் பெண் வரை அனைவரும் ஆயோக்கியர்களாகவே இருக்கிறார்கள். இரண்டாம் பாதி முழுக்க ஜவ்வாக இழுத்து வைத்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஒரே போன்ற காட்சிகளைத் திரும்ப திரும்ப பார்ப்பது போன்ற உணர்வு ஏற்படுவதை தவிர்க்க முடியவில்லை. படத்தில் மருந்துக்கும் கூட போலீஸ் என்ற வார்த்தையை கூட யாரும் பயன்படுத்த வில்லை. க்ளைமாக்சில் ஆர்யா மற்றும் சாயிஷா இருவருக்கும் இடையில் நடக்கும் காட்சிகள் மட்டுமே மிகப்பெரிய ஆறுதல். டெடி பேசும் வசனங்கள் ஆரம்பத்தில் சிரிக்க வைத்தாலும் போகப் போக எரிச்சலூட்டுகின்றன.

ஆர்யா தனக்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்ட பாத்திரத்தை உணர்ந்து சிறப்பான நடிப்பை நல்கியுள்ளார். தன்னுடைய குறைபாட்டால் எப்போதும் விரக்தி நிலையிலேயே இருப்பது, டெடி தன் வாழ்வில் வந்த பிறகு உடல்மொழியில் காட்டும் மாற்றம் என மிளிர்கிறார். சாயிஷாவுக்கு படத்தில் வேலையே இல்லை. படத்தில் ஆரம்பத்தில் ஒரு பத்து நிமிடம், க்ளைமாக்சில் ஒரு பத்து நிமிடம் வருகிறார். இதில் நடிப்பதற்கும் பெரிதாக வாய்ப்பில்லை. சதீஷ் இதுவரை நடித்த படங்களில் எல்லாம் என்ன செய்து கொண்டிருந்தாரோ, அதையேதான் இதிலும் செய்கிறார். கருணாகரன் வரும் காட்சிகள் எல்லாம் மனதில் ஒட்டவில்லை. வில்லனாக நடித்திருக்கும் இயக்குநர் மகிழ் திருமேனி இப்படத்தின் மூலம் நடிகராக அறிமுகமாகியுள்ளார். படத்தில் குறைவான நேரமே வந்தாலும் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட வாய்ப்பை கச்சிதமாக பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்.

யுவாவின் ஒளிப்பதிவு படத்துக்கு மிகப்பெரிய பலம். இமானின் பின்னணி இசையும், பாடல்களும் ரசிக்கும்படி இருக்கின்றன. படம் முழுக்க கலை இயக்குநர் எஸ்.எஸ்.மூர்த்தியின் உழைப்பு தெரிகிறது. படத்தில் குறிப்பிட்டு பாராட்டும்படியான விஷயம் கிராபிக்ஸ். டெடி வரும் எந்த காட்சியிலும் சின்ன உறுத்தல் கூட தெரியவில்லை. ஹாலிவுட் படங்களுக்கு நிகரான நேர்த்தி கிராபிக்ஸில் வெளிப்படுகிறது.

படத்தின் நீளத்தை குறைத்து திரைக்கதையை இன்னும் கூர்தீட்டியிருந்தால், தமிழ் சினிமாவுன் புதிய முயற்சியாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டிருக்கும் இந்த ‘டெடி’.
